Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for using social media to connect, engage, and inspire? The Office of Admissions is seeking a Social Media Strategist to help share the Ball State experience with prospective students. In this role, you'll lead the development and execution of impactful content and campaigns across a variety of platforms-helping to elevate our digital presence and support our recruitment goals. What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function: The Social Media Specialist is responsible for assisting the Office of Admissions in recruiting prospective students via multiple social media platforms. This position works closely with the Social Media Content & Strategy Manager to create compelling social media content and execute recruitment initiatives that align with the university's overall enrollment goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the Office of Admissions social media calendar, overseeing the daily presence across all platforms. This includes evaluating communication opportunities to determine which information and stories to share via the appropriate channels; actively engaging with posts and monitoring comments to foster a sense of community and build brand awareness.

  • Assist in the development of social media strategies for the Office of Admissions and campus partners to drive recruitment efforts and reach enrollment goals. This includes planning and creating content that aligns with Ball State's brand identity and visual guidelines while maintaining best practices for each platform.

  • Stay current with emerging social media trends, platform updates, and best practices in higher education marketing. Proactively recommend innovative strategies, tools, and

    content approaches to enhance engagement and elevate the University's social media presence.

  • Oversee and guide a team of student ambassadors in the creation of photo and video content that supports the Office of Admissions' social media presence and broader communications and recruitment goals. Provide creative direction, feedback, and support throughout the content creation process to ensure alignment with brand standards, messaging priorities, and audience engagement strategies. Assist with supervising student videography interns who are focused on social media and other video content efforts.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned including working a flexible schedule e.g. evening or weekend hours to capture content at Admissions events and other campus activities that support social media storytelling.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution by time of appointment.
  • Minimum of one year in a relevant marketing or communications role, with a proven background in social media.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong creative and visual storytelling abilities. Proficient with technology, including video editing software and a comprehensive understanding of social media platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in communication, public relations, video/media, higher education, or related field.
  • Experience working in a university setting, particularly in admissions. Proficient in social media, video, and design platforms, with a proven ability to create content that resonates with college-bound demographics.
