Tata Consulting Engineers USA, LLC, (TCE), is a multi-disciplinary engineering organization offering a full range of integrated engineering design, project support, procurement and construction management services to the energy and chemicals industries. Position Summary Help develop minimal technical scopes and prepare TIC estimates for identified projects in Geismar capital portfolio. Functions including working with engineering firms, inside design and estimating capabilities along with submitting expenditure proposal to secure funding. When the funds are sanctioned, the Project Manager develops or oversees the development of detailed engineering, reviews bids, and provides oversite during construction. These projects are generally between $100K and $10MM. This function reports to the Project Engineering Team Lead or Capital Program Manager, requiring management of multiple projects in various stages of engineering and construction. Updates the status of assigned projects with the Project Engineering Team Lead or Capital Project manager on a predetermined basis. Interacts regularly with Process, Production, Maintenance, and Safety personnel to facilitate project design. Works with outside construction firms for execution of capital project work. Works with and through the Purchasing Department to procure materials required for installing capital projects. Works within the project engineering group and interacts with other departments to implement the continuous improvement process. Responsibilities Develop necessary computer skills to produce required reports during execution of capital projects. Provide EHS, lifecycle, or profitability analysis for all projects. Ability to develop and progress schedules, Project schedules should be from conception to completion or the project. Problem Solving: Projects and priorities are assigned by the Project Engineering Team Lead or Capital Program manager with input from the Senior Leadership. Use technical sills to obtain a solution to the assigned projects within the time frame designated by the project team. In working with the Project Engineering Team Lead or Capital Program manager, determine possible and select optimum solutions based on sound technical principles. Evaluate cost estimates provided to ensure all aspects of the scope have been included in the TIC estimate of a project. Present concerns of project risk to the Project Engineering Team Lead, Operations Excellence Manager, Operations Support Team Lead or Capital Program Manager to determine if it is necessary add contingency to the estimate. Ensure the safe and successful technical and financial completion of capital projects. Accountability: Responsible for working safely, being aware of possible hazards and taking action to prevent a potential injury. Incidents should be reported to help prevent future incidents. This responsibility also includes letting others know if you see them in danger or performing an unsafe act. Maintain working relationships with other plant departments to ensure cooperation and mutual respect. Complete projects expeditiously obtaining the required objectives within the level of funds and sanctioned and in compliance with the established project schedule. Procure high quality, safe and functional plant equipment using the existing Project Engineering Procedures and Specifications and applicable national codes and standards. Qualifications Must possess an understanding of the basic plant processes and material and chemicals used in these processes. Possess a working knowledge of piping design, equipment layout, electrical basics, pump selection, materials of construction, civil/structural basics, etc. Have the skills to practice continuous improvement in most of the assignments, Possess cost estimating and project management skills. Education Requirements This function requires a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years chemical plant/ refinery experience as a process, project, or maintenance engineer.
