The comms team is responsible for managing and enhancing Charter's reputation and image through strategic communication with external stakeholders such as the media, customers, investors, and the general public. We develop and execute communication strategies, craft impactful messages, and coordinate media relations to effectively convey Charter's values, goals, and key initiatives.

JOB SUMMARY

As a Government Affairs Specialist, you'll be responsible for implementing Charter's PAC and political programs and assisting on federal government affairs initiatives, working with the entire Legislative Affairs team. This position will report to the Vice President of Legislative Affairs.

WHAT OUR FOVERNMENT AFFAIRS SPECIALISTS ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Schedule, arrange travel, and manage expense reports for SVP and other executives; assist SVP with monthly team messages
  • Set up vendors, manage payments, and update organizational charts and Outlook distribution lists
  • Manage national third-party calls, maintain calendar, and distribute call notes; attend region calls and compile notes
  • Assist in event organization, including logistics, budgeting, vendor coordination, and guest management
  • Analyze, monitor, and track BEAD activity, political contributions, franchise renewals, 626 letters, and PEG requests; prepare monthly reports
  • Conduct audits with Franchising Team, focusing on franchise renewals, fee audits, 626 windows, and PEG requests
  • Research Data Management input related to franchise renewals, 626 windows, and community unit ID cleanup
  • Support Senior Director in filing lobbying reports and assist with franchise activities, including renewals, check requests, and state filings

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate with external analysts and the media
  • Superior business acumen
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical abilities and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of cable television products and services
  • Communications / public relations experience - 12-15+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Cable television, telephone, broadband environment experience preferred

The base pay for this position generally is between $60,400.00 and $96,800.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
