GENERAL SUMMARY:

Expected Hours: No less than 40 per week

Location: Hiring for Southfield and Novi

Medical Specialist: Orthopedic and Sports Medicine

As a Surgical Scheduler, you will be a vital part of our healthcare team, utilizing your core skills in medical administrative support, patient service, and office experience to ensure seamless coordination of surgical procedures. Your premium skills in medical collection, EMR systems, and HIPAA compliance will be essential in maintaining accurate records and safeguarding patient information. With a focus on communication, customer service, and time management, you will excel in liaising with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to facilitate efficient and effective surgical scheduling. Join us in delivering exceptional care and support to our patients in a dynamic healthcare setting.

PRINCPLE DUTIES/ RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Schedule patients for surgery based on the availability of the surgeon and the medical condition of patients.

  • Respond to calls, emails, and queries that patients might have regarding their surgery.
  • Coordinate pertinent information and changes with management, surgeon, OR, and implant reps.

  • Manage surgeons calendar and communicates changes.

  • Obtain medical clearance and insurance authorization prior to surgery date.

  • Guide patients and any relevant third party through instructions about "things to do" before and after surgery.
  • Coordinate with other hospital departments when special surgical needs occur.

EDCUATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma equivalency - 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
  • Prior experience in health care.
  • Understanding of basic medical terminologies, diagnostic procedures, insurances and authorization.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Good work ethic and ability to treat documents and patients with confidentiality.

    Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
