Job Summary

The Data and Analytics Intern will support Westfield's Data, Analytics and Reporting team in shaping the future of data-driven decision-making. This hands-on internship offers exposure to modern tools and technologies-including Python, GitHub, Power BI, Azure and AI platforms-as Westfield transitions to its new Atlas data environment on Snowflake. The internship will provide an opportunity to prototype and operationalize new capabilities that will support large program delivery, as well as business decision making. The intern will contribute to meaningful projects, collaborate across departments, and gain experience in modern technologies. This role is ideal for students eager to build technical and professional skills in a dynamic, innovative environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Data Analytics and Reporting team in designing and developing capabilities that accelerate delivery for data teams across the organization.
  • Conduct research, gather data, and perform analysis using Python, SQL, and AI tools. Explore opportunities to automate repetitive tasks to make analysts, testers, and developers more effective.
    • Examples of efforts include:
      • Contribute to the development of a unit testing framework for data engineering workflows, leveraging GitHub Copilot to assist in test generation and automation.
      • Support efforts to consolidate legacy BI tools into a unified platform by developing frameworks and processes that optimize and automate development, promotion pipelines and monitoring.
      • Assist in building a comprehensive testing framework that includes test case generation, synthetic test data creation, automated execution, and result reporting.
      • Partner with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to reimagine modernize legacy processes and accelerate migration to Snowflake and other cloud platforms.
  • Participate in rapid prototyping of AI capabilities, including Snowflake Cortex Analyst and other emerging tools, to enhance analytics and automation.
  • Develop quick-turn Python solutions for unique challenges, proof-of-concepts, and integrations (i.e., APIs), including validation mechanisms to compare against existing solutions.
  • Work on collaborative projects with other interns and departments.
  • Participate in training programs, workshops, and internship events such as Lunch and Learns to build technical and business acumen.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. Engage in shadowing opportunities and develop communication and presentation skills.

Job Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in a degree program in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Python, GitHub, and AI tools and platforms; interest in machine learning is a plus but not required.
  • Curious, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly through experimentation, collaboration, and iteration.
  • Comfortable working in both independent and collaborative settings, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
