Who You Are... As Union Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end processing of in-house union payrolls and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting of wages, rate sheets, and fringe benefits under collective bargaining agreements (CBAs). This role requires deep expertise in union payroll and a proven ability to manage in-house payroll operations in a fast growing, complex, multi-union environment. This Position... Some examples of the work you might do includes:
- Leads a team of Regional Payroll Administrators and ensures accurate, timely, and compliant processing of weekly union payrolls in alignment with CBA requirements.
- Maintains accurate records, including, but not limited to, CBAs, union pay rates and fringe benefit rates in the ERP system and prepares and/or reviews certain general journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Reviews fringe benefit and certified payroll submissions and ensures timely payment and reporting to various unions.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for union payroll-related inquiries, including providing guidance on unique taxable compensation situations, resolving discrepancies with union representatives, employees, or internal departments.
- Stays current with changes in union agreements, wage rates, compliance regulations and union portal login requirements.
- Collaborates with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure smooth payroll operations and CBA compliance.
- Ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulatory reporting requirements, and internal control policies.
- Manages certain tasks related to the completion of internal and external financial audits, quarterly financial reviews, casualty insurance audits, and other audits as necessary.
- Assists with payroll integration and training for acquisitions.
- Offers ideas and guidance concerning the future state of the Company's payroll processing with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
What You Need...
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Finance AND 5+ years of payroll-related job experience OR 10+ years of relevant, job related experience.
- Prior experience in a similar industry (construction) with union payrolls.
- Strong understanding and interpretation of CBAs and union contracts.
- Proficient in processing union rate sheets and fringe benefit reporting.
- Experience with multi-state payrolls.
- Intermediate to advanced level skill with Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
- Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with diverse audiences.
- Must be detail oriented and able to handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in researching and interpreting payroll laws and regulations.
- Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience and/or working knowledge of Viewpoint Vista.
- Experience and/or working knowledge of UKG.
- Certified Payroll Professional or related advanced certification.

- This position operates primarily in an office environment, and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, and printers.
