This Position reports to:

Product Engineering & Quality Manager

Your role and responsibilities:

As a Product Support Specialist, you will ensure superior customer experience by solving the most challenging issues from customer sites during the whole product life cycle in ABB Motion High Power.

You will act as the first line contact in PE&Q for escalated product related issues and maintenance.

You will be reporting to the PE&Q Manager of System Drives in the USA.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid in New Berlin, WI. #LI-Hybrid

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Lead the resolution of critical customer issues involving LV drives by coordinating investigations, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining proactive communication during escalated cases.
  • Act as the primary technical interface for advanced support to ABB customers and channel partners.
  • Engage with global teams to manage escalations, drive quality improvements,
    contain impacts, and contribute to the specifications of future product generations.
  • Apply an advanced understanding of electrical engineering principles related to LV drives and motors, including DC bus sharing, Regeneration, Load sharing,
    Fieldbus communication, Brake choppers, etc.
  • Analyze field performance data and warranty reports to identify trends, prevent recurrence, and enhance product reliability on a global scale.
  • Collaborate with Field Service Engineers and international teams to share
    technical updates, maintain high-quality data records, and improve service
    outcomes.
  • Promote and enforce strict compliance with safety protocols, especially when
    working with or supervising work on energized electrical equipment.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Associate's Degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, or a
    related field and 7+ years of experience in technical support or engineering roles involving drive systems OR Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field and 5+ years of experience in technical support or engineering roles involving drive systems OR Master's degree and 3+ years of experience in technical support or engineering roles involving drive systems.
  • Proven expertise in technical problem-solving, root cause analysis, and customer-facing support.
  • Solid understanding of LV drive systems and motor control.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional environment.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Drives troubleshooting knowledge and experience for HVAC, Water/Wastewater/Industrial applications.
  • Previous experience in Failure Analysis, Test and/or R&D Lab.
  • Previous field experience (Customers, Installed base, or equivalent).
