Description

Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. Summary: The Sanitation Manager supervises, and coordinates activities of workers engaged in duties concerned with sanitation programs in food processing establishment by performing the following duties:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspects products and equipment for conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and plant standards.

  • Directs food handlers and production personnel in sanitary and pest-control procedures.

  • Directs cleaning of equipment and work areas.

  • Inspects premises for unsanitary practices and conditions.

  • Confers with management and production personnel on sanitation problems and recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting ventilation and/or work practices to improve sanitation standards and purity of product.

  • Compiles required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies.

  • Routes reports to designated plant personnel.

  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hours requirements for completion of job assignments.

  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

  • Establishes or adjusts work schedules and procedures to meet production requirements.

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.

  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

  • Maintains time and production records.

  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

  • Manages a team of sanitation quality workers, providing training, guidance and feedback.

  • Makes hiring and disciplinary decisions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.

  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety training.

  • Maintains inventories of supplies and equipment along with placing orders via purchasing as needed.

  • Train and/or arrange for training of new employees. Maintains a regular schedule of training updates for all employees.

  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $80k to $110k.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience overseeing a staff, preferably in food production or the seafood industry.

  • Must have knowledge and skills required to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours.

  • Knowledge of the GMP, HACCP and Environmental Sanitation programs.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four-yearcollege or university program certificate; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5 years supervisory experience in food production/sanitation

  • Experience in the seafood industry preferred.

  • Experience with third party regulatory agencies.
