About the Role:

Serving as a junior project manager, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant in the Change Management and Learning Development practice area will support successfully executing the client's Digital Transformation Program (DTP) by coordinating project activities, assisting with stakeholder engagement, and ensuring alignment with initiative objectives. Working closely with SUNY implementation leads and product vendors, you will facilitate the collection and validation of business requirements, support solution design, and contribute to detailed project planning and execution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist leads in identifying and initiating subprojects aligned with SUNY DTP objectives.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure that tasks are executed timely across all phases.
  • Track and report on project budgets and expenditures to the SUNY PMO and the budget and business analyst.
  • Enforce PMO-defined quality standards and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Report to implementation leads and/or senior project managers and serve as a liaison between the client, vendor, and NYSTEC teams.
  • Coordinate and document internal and external meetings and follow up on action items.
  • Support the alternatives analysis process to evaluate and recommend solutions.
  • Provide regular status updates, including project schedule, risks, and issues, to SUNY and the PMO.
  • Prepare reports, maintain accurate documentation, and produce key performance indicator (KPI)-based performance summaries.
  • Support a smooth and efficient transition of knowledge and responsibilities at the conclusion of the engagement's.
  • Assist in general administrative tasks, such as maintaining project calendars and file organization, and providing data entry.
  • Track resources and maintain an inventory of project materials.
  • Identify, record, and escalate risks, issues, or scope changes, as needed.
  • Suggest and support implementing improvements to project workflows and administrative processes.


About you:
Required Qualifications

  • Ability to lead complex projects, from initiation through closeout, including defining the scope, scheduling, budgeting, and delving across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Skilled in managing internal stakeholders, external vendors, and cross-functional teams, including setting expectations, resolving conflicts, and ensuring accountability.
  • Expertise in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks and issues, as well as handling change requests and maintaining alignment with project objectives.
  • Ability to develop and deliver required project documentation that clearly articulate progress, risks, and decisions to all levels of leadership.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on tasks outside traditional project management scope when needed.


Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree and seven years of related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.


The target base salary for this position is $79,000 - $109,000 per year. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, location, and job-related qualifications.
