Nalco Water, an Ecolab Company currently is seeking Principal Chemist to join the Mining & Mineral Processing RD&E team in Naperville, Illinois. As a Principal Chemist, you will be responsible for developing new innovations and leading projects. You will also collaborate with other scientists and engineers to develop innovative solutions for our clients' challenges in the mining industry.

What you will do:

  • Lead projects from initial prospecting through final validation and commercialization in collaboration with multiple functions

  • Collaborate with other researchers and field technical consultants to deploy new innovations in field applications.

  • Engage with customers, sales engineers, and marketing functions to translate industry challenges into research platforms.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Mineral Processing Engineering or a related technical discipline and 5 years of Industrial Research & Development experience; or

  • MS Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Mineral Processing Engineering or a related technical discipline and 3 years of Industrial Research & Development experience; or

  • PhD Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Mineral Processing Engineering or a related technical discipline

  • Experience developing innovative chemical technologies, leveraging knowledge of chemical properties and structures

  • Experience working independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team of researchers

  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fundamental knowledge and experimental experience related to rheology, hydrodynamics, and/or surface science.

  • Experience developing innovative chemical technologies for mining and mineral processing applications, such as mineral flotation.

  • Experience using standard statistical analysis and laboratory software (JMP, Matlab, R, etc.), as well as applying statistical concepts to analyze and interpret data.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Annual or Hourly Compensation Range

The pay range for this position is $83,600.00 - $125,400.00. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
