SUMMARY
The Scanning Technician prepares medical record documents for scanning into the imaging system. Assists in identifying and routing medical record forms pre and post scanning. Ensures appropriate document types and patient identifiers are used. Resolves scanning errors in various applications and error queues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

* Supports clinical users utilizing HIM technology while following clinical and departmental procedures.
* Utilizes hospital-based technology and software that supports Scanning.
* Utilizes best-practice methods and procedures that will ensure scanned images are indexed and scanned with a 98% quality rate.
* Key contributor to the clinical and financial objectives of CHCO by prioritizing workflow appropriately and allocating resources to known bottlenecks that will optimize total operational throughput.
* Prepares documents received via inter-office mail for scanning.
* Researches and resolves scanning errors in the various scanning error queues.
* Monitors and resolves Chart Correction requests.
* Assists internal customers with locating lost or misfiled documents.
* Maintains established productivity and quality measures.
* Assists Operations Supervisor/Manager with forms management.

SCOPE AND LEVEL
Guidelines: Trains in the field and assists higher level personnel to acquire learning through practical experience.
Complexity: Performs routine and/or basic tasks common to the field. Procedures, methods, and techniques to be used are well established with options to be considered well defined. Tools, work aids, and materials to be used are specified.
Decision Making: Duties assigned are primarily routine, repetitive, and restricted in intricacy with little or no discretion in how they are carried out.
Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where factual information relative to the organization or its functions are received, relayed, or a service rendered according to established procedures or instructions.
Supervision Received: Under close supervision, the employee receives training to develop skills and abilities in a specific line of work or general occupational area. Work product is subject to close, continuous inspection.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience working in a medical facility or a Health Information Management department.
EQUIVALENCY: None.
CERTIFICATION(S): None.
LICENSURE(S): None.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $18.26 to $27.40
