Compute Storage Engineer (USA Remote)

The Role
As a Compute Storage Engineer with Presidio, you will be part of a small team environment, where communication and availability are critical, as well as the soft skills to work with a high touch customer on a large private cloud project. You will support two data centers for one of our clients. The data centers are a multi-tenant private cloud environment designed for Infrastructure-as-a-Service. The role involves working with the operations and project teams in a network engineering role to maintain and improve the environment. The person in this position will work with other network engineers, system engineers, and developers to design, plan, and implement changes. They will also work to solve issues and problems as needed. The team works in a group approach, a non-siloed environment, so the individual needs to be comfortable working in collaboration with others.

Travel Requirements:

This is a remote role (within the Continental US) with no travel required.

Responsibilities Include:

• Effectively communicate to explain technical information and best practices to customers and staff in an easy-to-understand way
• Interact with and provide technical and event support for customers
• Manage risks, establish, and execute recovery plans when required
• Understand the scope of each project including identifying and mapping out schedules, milestones, and required resources to meet the project objectives
• Engage with internal team to ensure technology strategy and investment is in line with customer business function objectives
• Effectively applies team methodology and follows project standards
• Exercise good time management and organizational skills
• Build relationships with staff in other work areas to meet internal and external customer needs
• Regularly review self-performance and progress to ensure projects/tasks are achieving results
• Continue to build technical skillsets keeping pace with emerging technologies
• Gain process technique through the submission of content for peer review
• Develop better processes and procedures around each project process and document
• Execute tasks assigned by the Leadership Team

Required Skills and Professional Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or the equivalent work experience and/or military experience
• 10 plus years with Cisco Data Center Experience
• Experienced Cisco UCS Engineer in a VMware environment. A background with one or more major Storage vendors is a plus: Dell, EMC, Netapp, PURE, IBM.
• Additional skills to include familiarity with Cisco Networks (Traditional or ACI), Ansible Tower, Linux, mainframe or any major cloud vendor (AWS, Azure or Google).
• A small team environment, where communication and availability are critical, as well as the soft skills to work with a high touch customer on a large private cloud project. Must have the ability to cover after hours workloads as well as some on-call rotation work.
