Job Description

This position is responsible for driving product scheduling and schedule compliance through the front end operations. Improving customer OTD, meeting TOC ship requirements and improving the velocity at which product flows are key outputs of this role. Solid communication between front end departments including customer service and commercial are required to provide solid commitments and execute on them.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

* Coordinate releases with outside cut plans and ensure timely delivery of material to the forge shop.
* Coordinate Cut - Forge - Clean and Grind - Heat Treat & Prefinish schedules between departments and with the back end scheduler coordinator.
* Coordinate departmental schedules to ensure they support customer requirements while maximizing overall throughput through the front end.
o Develop rolling 7 day schedules for all assigned departments
o Develop monthly schedules for all assigned departments
o Measure and monitor schedule compliance to ensure departments are producing to the ship plan.
o Ensure rework is scheduled and routers are updated to reflect required operations.
o Monitor inventory age list and ensure material does not sit idle
o Monitor locations in Oracle to ensure material is being moved into the proper locations in the system.
o Work with engineering, quality and metallurgy smooth processing of new programs is made
o Communicate closely with production control to avoid new product setbacks or issues
* Work with Plant Scheduler to drive to systems based scheduling system. Ex. System generated schedules or Dispatch reports
o Requires close interaction with campus IT group.
o Requires vision of how system can be utilized to eliminate busy work.

* Data flow improvements.
o Utilize system to generate reports to drive compliance of paper work including: forge conformance, furnace conformance, NCRs, etc.
o Ensure all paperwork requirements are complete prior to moving to the back end operations.
o Monitor, track and explain inventory mix in front of key operations to provide visual breakdown

CHALLENGES:

The culture has utilized outside scheduling tools with little linkage to the Oracle system. The current process is labor intensive and requires significant resources to maintain. Driving the group to utilize Oracle & MSQS and engaging IT to ensure it is user friendly to support the scheduling of the facility are critical. This position will support the Plant Scheduler in the development of a new scheduling methodology from the ground up.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
Individual must be internally driven and self-directed.
Individual must have ability to work with employees at every level of the organization.
Individual must be a good problem solver with a vision of the long term scheduling process.
AS, High school diploma or GED and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

SPECIAL SKILLS:
Solid computer skills and a willingness to learn and improve current process a must.
Excel, Word, Oracle, MSQS and other MRP systems preferred.
Good working knowledge of the facility, processes and interactions between departments.
High energy and willingness to spend time on shop floor.
Understanding of the Aero Turbine business and customers is a plus.
