What to Expect
The Tool and Die Associate Manager oversees tooling operations with a focus on mold maintenance, die design, and precision machining. Responsible for executing preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring tooling reliability, dimensional accuracy, and process stability. This role manages cross-functional coordination for mold changes, new tool launches, and continuous improvement, while leading skilled trades and aligning tooling strategies with production and quality objectives.
What You'll Do
- Identify, assess, and eliminate risks in processes, facilities, activities, and equipment within the control area to guarantee safety
- Oversee tooling maintenance and coordinate human and equipment resources to meet production goals
- Develop and implement short- and medium-term strategies for mold maintenance (corrective and preventive). Set clear objectives and responsibilities for your team
- Ensure team members have the necessary skills and knowledge. Identify high-potential talent and support their development within the organization
- Actively collaborate with suppliers, engineers, and other departments during the launch of new products or processes
- Manage and track team training and skill development
- Coordinate mold changes in collaboration with Quality Engineers, Production Supervisors, and Tooling/Process Engineers
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years in the tooling industry with expertise in mold maintenance, mold design, flow simulation, and machining (lathes, grinding, welding, cutting)
- Knowledge of plastic injection molding processing
- Proficiency in design software: SolidWorks Plastics, Autodesk Moldflow, Moldex3D, Catia, or similar
- Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic diagrams for molds
- Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools: Digital OD micrometer, digital calipers, dial indicators, magnetic bases, 1-2-3 blocks, V-blocks, steel rules, and related equipment
