Job Description |
The Deputy Director provides daily oversight to the special police and contracted security officers on campus. This is accomplished by supervising field operations; performing investigations; scheduling and directing of all officers; event operations planning; performing all duties required of an officer; and serving in the capacity of Acting Director when required.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education |
- High school diploma or GED
- Current or prior MPCTC law enforcement certification or an equivalent certification from another state
- Maryland driver's license
- Maryland Handgun permit

Required Experience |
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience as a law enforcement officer
- Minimum three (3) years of experience supervising law enforcement officers
|
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities |
- Knowledge of Maryland laws governing law enforcement conduct, use of force, and certification requirements
- Knowledge and experience with ICS and managing critical incidents
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Aptitude to deescalate incidents
- Ability to recognize and respond to suspicious behavior and emergencies
- Sound judgement

Preferred Qualifications |
- Associate's degree
- Event security and planning experience
MPCTC First Line Supervisor Training MPCTC First Line Administrator Training- Thorough understanding of Maryland criminal procedure and criminal and traffic laws
- Working knowledge of law enforcement RMS software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to teach, deliver presentations, and mentor officers

General Weekly Work Schedule |
Typically, Monday - Friday - 8AM - 4PM. May be required to flex schedule to cover weekend shifts or evenings as needed. |
