As a Principal Scientist/Sr. Principal Scientist in the Translational Unit, you will play a critical role in bridging preclinical and early clinical proof of concept studies, working closely with translational leads to support biomarker identification and assay development activities.

This is a lab-based position with 5 days on-site presence in the laboratory.

Responsibilities include:

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Support identification and validation of clinical biomarkers and development of clinically deployable biomarker assays, including ELISA-based and flow cytometry-based readouts.

  • Utilize your expertise in immunology to design, optimize and conduct in vitro and ex vivo translational assays using primary human cells and tissues.

  • Apply expertise in several of the following capabilities: flow cytometry, ELISA/MSD/Luminex and Quanterix platform, gene/protein expression analysis, cell and tissue imaging, next-generation sequencing, proteomics (e.g., OLink) and other omics platforms; act as a go to expert on specific technologies.

  • Effectively troubleshoot assays and, when necessary, develop alternative approaches.

  • Work closely with preclinical statistics and other relevant teams to ensure robust study design of experiments.

  • Present findings to internal teams, stakeholders, and governance in a balanced, clear, and precise manner.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in alignment with data integrity expectations and ensure compliance with all relevant protocols and safety guidelines.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards in the conduct of translational research.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the translational research team and across the organization.

Why You? Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field with 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience, or MS in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field with 6+ years of relevant laboratory experience.

  • Expertise in multi-color flow cytometry (immune cell phenotyping).

Preferred Experience

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Expertise in the development of ELISA-based and flow cytometry-based biomarker assays.

  • Previous experience in pharma or biotech industry; understanding of drug discovery processes including small and large molecule development.

  • Background and expertise in immunology, respiratory or fibrotic diseases.

  • Experience processing human biological samples, developing B cell, T cell and myeloid cell functional readouts, flexibility to adopt new technologies.

  • Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex scientific data; knowledge/expertise in different omics platforms.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present scientific findings to internal and external stakeholders in a balanced, clear, and precise manner.

  • Proven ability to balance priorities across multiple objectives, meeting timelines while maintaining attention to detail and high-performance standards.

  • Excellent record keeping and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements related to translational research and clinical development.
