The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers a unique opportunity for a Clinical Research Coordinator to support an innovative, community-informed research study focused on preventing and managing hypertension during pregnancy. This position plays a key role in advancing maternal healthcare equity across our state. The coordinator will engage directly with research participants, collaborate with community-based sites, and provide training, technical assistance, and ongoing support to ensure successful project implementation. The role also involves frequent communication with multiple partners and stakeholders, offering a dynamic, relationship-centered work environment. Our department brings together clinicians, researchers, and community advocates committed to improving outcomes in maternal and child health-particularly in communities historically impacted by disparities. We are seeking someone with experience working as or alongside doulas or community health workers, who has strong ties to the Black community, and who thrives in a setting that requires flexibility, cultural humility, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute meaningfully to equity-focused research and help drive systems-level change in maternal health.


  • This position is full or part-time, 80%-100%

  • The work schedule is flexible and will be determined at the time of hire

  • This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

  • Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors (does not pertain to physicians/providers who work with minors): This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.


Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Manages research workflow components, collects, prepares, processes, and submits participant data and samples to appropriate entities, adhering to research protocols
  • Contribute to the development of dissemination products, including writing reports, creating presentations, and facilitating discussions or workshops to share findings with academic, clinical, and community audiences.

  • Identifies work unit resources needs and manages supply and equipment inventory levels
  • Serves as a main point of contact for clinical research participants, providing information regarding research procedures, expectations, and informational inquiries. Ensures participants follow the research protocol and alerts Principal Investigator of issues
  • Performs quality checks
  • Schedules logistics, determines workflows, and secures resources for clinical research trials
  • Identifies resource needs and develops clinical research documents, such as job aids, tools, processes, procedures, and training. Contributes to the development of protocols
  • Recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility and enrolls trial participants, collects more complex information, performs medical assessments, and answers varied questions under supervision of a medically licensed professional. Performs medical assessments after completion of required training/certification, such as collecting vital signs, obtaining weight, and performing phlebotomy
  • Recruit, train, and provide ongoing technical assistance to community-based sites, serving as the primary liaison to ensure clear, consistent communication, alignment with project goals, and smooth day-to-day coordination across all locations.

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is $65,000; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years employment experience in research, healthcare, community health, or public health is required by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a nurse, midwife, doula or community health worker

  • Prior experience with human subject research

  • Prior experience with data entry

  • Prior experience with electronic data capturing (EDC) systems

  • Prior experience working with community based organizations


Education:

Bachelor's Degree preferred; focus in a healthcare field, community health, or public health
