Statement of Purpose

Plan, manage and execute sales related activities to New York State and local government, focused on the metro New York City area, including, but not limited to, the five boroughs and Long Island. This includes specific account management and business development activities for assigned accounts, with the purpose of meeting NYSPSP's annual product and services growth goal targets.

Education

Undergraduate degree in Communications, Marketing, or Business from an accredited university or college or other related field or equivalent experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.

Training and Specialized Knowledge

Knowledge of state government procurement policies and procedures and their relationship to the OGS program. The candidate will possess superior written and verbal communications, analytical skills, and the ability to develop and convey concepts, with experience and knowledge of state industry organizations to maximize business development opportunities in alignment to NYSPSP strategy. The ability to gain internal support, operate independently with limited supervision, and establish solid working relationships with staff, peers, partners, and customers while displaying a high degree of tact and diplomacy is required.

Experience

8+ years selling experience is required, most recently within the State Government market. Experience selling medical, safety, office or related products preferred. Experience selling call center or document scanning services a plus. Experience using Salesforce or other CRM is preferred.

Travel

Up to 60%. Must reside near metro New York City, New York area.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities



  • Perform all sales activities of our offerings to New York State or City government accounts.
  • Identify and contact potential customers through various channels including direct sales, emails, tele-sales, networking, trade shows, social media, and market research.
  • Secure new business by effectively presenting the value proposition and persuading customers to commit.
  • Achieve sales within designated territory.
  • Prepare and do sales presentations - delivering compelling product/service demonstrations and presentations to prospective clients, promoting our program.
  • Relationship building - cultivating strong connections with customers through regular communication and personalized engagement.
  • Account management - maintain ongoing relationships with existing customers to ensure satisfaction and generate repeat business.
  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms to reach mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Manage existing contracts and renewals.
  • Sales reporting - tracking sales activity, pipeline management, and providing regular updates to sales management.
  • Utilize Salesforce and Oracle reports to track, gather and analyze sales data.
  • Engage customers to broaden the breadth purchased by current customers.
  • Provide effective customer service as required on issues with orders or contracts.
  • Prepare proposals, RFP responses, bid submissions, quote requests and inquiries from assigned accounts.
  • Assist in marketing efforts.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all account contacts, activities, and a development pipeline of opportunities - using Salesforce and internal systems.
  • Represent the company at approved seminars, shows and conferences.
  • Establish high level contact relationships at current and potential customer locations.
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of the customer organizational and operational structure and understand who can influence buying decisions.
  • Provide up to date account plans and strategies, action plans, and recent activity and target dates.
  • Control expenses and manage resources effectively to meet budget requirements.
  • Support and communicate with our affiliated agencies - providing sales intel, new product and service development, pricing comparisons.
  • Focus sales efforts to help our affiliated agencies grow employment for people who are blind.
  • Assist leadership in preparing sales results, data and reports for meetings and special projects.
  • Support customer care and finance departments by supplying data, information and interacting with customers to solve order or payment issues.
  • Control expenses and manage resources effectively to meet budget requirements.
  • Prepare and submit expense reports timely and maintain other administrative forms and reports as directed.
