Interstates is seeking a motivated student to join our Sioux Falls office as Cyber Security Interns. This opportunity is ideal for candidates currently pursuing a degree in Network and Security Administration, Cyber Operations, Cyber Defense or related fields. We value creative problem-solvers who possess an analytical mindset, a passion for learning, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team. As a Cyber Security Intern, you'll:



  • Assist with Network & Hardware Troubleshooting: Dive into resolving technical issues to support seamless operations.
  • Research Solutions: Explore emerging threats and innovative defenses, contributing to our team's knowledge base.
  • Test & Document: Participate in rigorous testing of systems, documenting procedures and results with precision.
  • Support Incident Response: Be part of our cyber security incident response efforts, gaining experience in tackling real security events.
  • Monitor Compliance: Help ensure adherence to internal and external cyber security policies.
  • Assess & Mitigate Risks: Contribute to evaluating security risks and implementing effective solutions to reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Create Audit Policies & Controls: Develop and refine critical audit processes that protect organizational assets.


Education and/or Experience:



  • Pursuing a 4 year degree in Network and Security Administration, Cyber Operations, Cyber Defense or related fields.
  • Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals, understanding of common ports and protocols, and familiarity with common cyber security technologies.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Self- motivated


Compensation: The pay range for this position is $20/hr - $21/hr. Our compensation ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.
