Position: Book Publishing Specialist

We're looking for a Book Publishing Specialist who's passionate about writing, editing, and project management - and who thrives on guiding projects from concept to publication.

What you'll do:
- Guide advisors through all phases of the book publishing process - from concept to publication
- Provide exceptional client service with clear, proactive communication
- Oversee Book Team workflows in our project management system by monitoring task progress, updating statuses, and coordinating next steps to move book projects forward
- Generate and analyze system reports to track team capacity, project status, and key performance indicators for the Books Program
- Edit and refine content while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and client voice
- Design book interiors and provide guidance on book covers, ensuring professional quality
- Collaborate with account managers, marketers, designers, compliance, and external vendors
- Support promotional efforts, including occasional travel to advisor book launch events
- Continuously look for ways to improve our Books Program and expand offerings
Experience you'll bring:
- 2+ years of experience in a writing or editing role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Experience managing projects and tasks within project management systems, tracking deadlines, and delivering work on schedule
- 1-3 years of experience in pagination, interior/exterior content design, and book cover design
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign; familiarity with other design tools
- Effective collaborator with cross-functional teams (Traffic, Compliance, Legal, Creative Account Management, Design)
- Comfortable with new AI technology, adaptable to change, and eager to learn
- Confidence using online publishing platforms (e.g., Amazon KDP)
Bonus Points:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing Communications, or a related field
- Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style
- Experience using project management software such as Workfront (or comparable tools like Trello or Monday.com)
