Responsibilities

As a Tutor, your primary responsibility will be to supervise our clients and ensure their safety while fostering a positive rapport. You will assist each client during school hours, help them navigate individual challenges, set behavioral limits, document their progress, and identify any potential needs for professional services. Your insights will be communicated to our professional staff to ensure comprehensive support for each client.

Essential Duties:

  • Collaborate with Educators: Actively work alongside the teacher to grade written assignments and teacher-scored assessments, providing valuable feedback to students.
  • Monitor Progress: Consistently monitor and collect data for each client, including maintaining an Excel spreadsheet for academic progress, taking attendance, and assisting with daily check-ins and goal-setting forms.
  • Draft Reports: Create weekly progress reports that highlight each client's achievements and areas for improvement, which will be sent out by the classroom teacher.
  • Input Case Notes: Accurately input case notes into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system prior to treatment team meetings, ensuring all relevant information is documented.
  • Inventory Management: Collect and manage classroom inventory, including school supplies, paper, pencils, and other materials needed for a productive learning environment.
  • Policy Compliance: Practice compliance with all policies and record-keeping requirements, maintaining the highest standards of accountability.
  • Stay Current: Remain up to date on all required trainings (HealthStream, CPR, CPI, etc.) and certifications to maintain your employment with Newport Healthcare.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. A Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferably in Mathematics or Science, is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Prior work experience in behavioral health treatment settings with adolescents is a significant plus, bringing valuable insights to our team.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and telephone skills are essential for effective interaction with patients, visitors, and healthcare team members.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that all responsibilities are met efficiently.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient computer and clerical skills to manage electronic health records and other administrative tasks.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish effective relationships with healthcare team members and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Customer Service Skills: Strong customer service skills, with a commitment to providing exceptional care and support to patients and their families.

**Pay range for this position is $18 to $21 depending on education and experience.

An individual's pay rate within the posted range is determined by several factors, including skills, experience, education, and market conditions. Additionally, we consider internal equity to ensure fairness within our organization.
