Description

The Mortgage Secondary Market Specialist performs secondary market activities, lock desk, and promotes product awareness with the bank. The role supports various functions within the Mortgage department. This person will communicate within the organization with Underwriting, Sales, Processing and strategic Management teams. Previous Lock Desk experience and investor relationship management experience are highly desired.



  • Oversees the Lock Desk queue and ensure lock requests are responded to and resolved in a timely manner
  • Analyzes guidelines and communicates with investors to provide answers to Loan Officers, Processors, and Underwriting
  • Manages the locked pipeline to ensure loans do not expire prior to, or post-closing
  • Responsible for handling Loan Estimates (LE), initial disclosures, change of circumstance (COC), ensuring accurate and compliant LE is provided to the borrower within TRID timing guideline requirements and monitoring borrower's receipt of previous LE
  • Responsible for working with Loan Officers and Processors through the life of the lock to validate and correctly price loans
  • Ensure fees for lender and broker are accurate according to lock and are within TILA/RESPA guidelines.
  • Maintains compliance and Regulatory Awareness: Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with relevant mortgage laws and regulations, including maintaining an understanding of HMDA and Fair Lending guidelines
  • Responsible for month end reporting; work closely with Director of Mortgage and Mortgage Operations Manager



Qualifications:



  • 2-3 years minimum experience required in Secondary Marketing or Lock Desk Analyst roles for a residential mortgage lender
  • Some college preferred, high school diploma or GED required
  • Experience utilizing a Product and Pricing Engine (examples: Optimal Blue, Mortech, Lender Price or other), and Mandatory locks, extensions, pair-offs of either Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac loans
  • Must have great interpersonal skills, customer service skills, and time management skills, and have the ability to collaborate productively with the team both internally and across different departments.


Skills:



  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Word, basic keyboarding and calculator skills; must be able to do simple math and carry out written instructions
  • Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Lifting in an office setting may be required up to 30lbs.
