The Space Systems Analysis and Test Group aims to solve our nation's most demanding space-related security challenges backed by validated analysis, prototyping, and field demonstrations. Position Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Software Developer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing software development efforts for technical modeling codes, owning the software architecture vision for future computational physics applications, and establishing a pipeline to integrate new features developed by users into the baseline codebase.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee software development efforts for technical modeling codes.
  • Develop and maintain the software architecture vision for future computational physics applications.
  • Establish and maintain a pipeline to integrate new features developed by users into the baseline codebase.
  • Collaborate with engineer and analyst teams to ensure the successful implementation of software solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Ph.D in a field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.Candidates with a Masters degree and 3-5 year ofrelevant experience will also be considered.
  • 1-3 years of experience in developing and maintaining technical software development efforts.
  • Experience in one or more of the following technical backgrounds is required: Astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, remote sensing, astronomy, GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control), state estimation, trajectory design, or signal processing.
  • Proficiency in Matlab, Python, C, C++, and Git version control.
  • Some experience with Java is preferred
  • Experience developing software across Windows and RHEL systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey software development concepts and best practices to a diverse audience.
  • Experience with software development in a research or academic environment.
