- Lead day-to-day operations in production, assembly, test and manufacturing engineering to meet or exceed performance targets in safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, and customer satisfaction.
- Lead meetings with the team related to customer complaints, driving to root cause and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Drives strong focus on quality to the customer by building quality into products and processes and maintaining clean and organized workspaces.
- Analyzes operating results, developing corrective actions as necessary.
- Create the basis for continuous improvement and employee empowerment by ensuring that standardized work/processes are followed, countermeasures implemented, and the area drives safety improvements.
- Works with planning to prioritize work and adhere to production schedules striving to meet or exceed on-time delivery goals. Finds methods for improving output while reducing cycle times.
- Manages department performance measures, including KPI boards, and provides regular reports to management.
- Articulates facility constraint issues and works to overcome manufacturing obstacles.
- Drive cross-functional coordination by working closely with engineering, scheduling, quality, supply chain, finance, and customer support to resolve issues and deliver customer value and meet production goals.
- Develops departmental operating budgets and manages expenditures to accomplish goals.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
- Implement and sustain lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and promote a culture of safety.
- Maintain accuracy of routings and bills of materials.
- Participate in daily production meetings, biweekly control room meetings, and weekly operations staff meetings.
- Prioritize and ensure adherence to production schedules.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in ERP systems preferably Plex and manufacturing software.
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient in data analysis and summarization to drive action.
- Familiarity with data visualization and performance tracking tools
- Familiarity with ISO standards and regulations.
Communication Skills:
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups, including employees or customers.
- Ability to present complex ideas, anticipate objections, and influence others to adopt a different view or approach.
- Excellent written communication for reports, procedures, and cross-functional updates.
- Experienced in coaching and feedback to develop teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
Technical Requirements:
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of project management processes
- Ability to apply lean/six sigma concepts in the work environment.
- Experienced structured problem-solving methodologies to identify issues, implement corrective actions, and sustain improvements.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Supervisory experience, including coaching, directing, and motivating employees.
- Knowledgeable of OSHA/Safety requirements and appropriate Environmental standards.
- Understanding of optimal material handling and warehouse operation functions
- Understanding of Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), 5S, Kanban, Pull Systems, and Flow.
- Understanding of material requirements planning (MRP) and shop floor control systems to ensure production alignment and inventory accuracy.
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Manufacturing floor with potential exposure to temperature extremes, dust, fumes, manufacturing chemicals, and noise.
- PPE: Safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection required.
- Physical Demands: Standing/walking for extended periods, occasional lifting (25-50 lbs), manual dexterity, and visual acuity.
- Schedule: Primarily day shift with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
