GUARDIAN FLIGHT MINE PROGRAM MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates activities of personnel at assigned mine and collaborates with the Regional Director, Mine Safety and Rescue Team and Mine Leadership. Essential functions include administrating the financial, marketing, growth and business aspects for the assigned base, as well as clinical oversight of Mine Paramedics.

JOB DUTIES

Administrative:

  • Coordinates the daily base activities of the Mine Paramedics by stopping by the mine locations a minimum of three times a week, exceptions include PM's with multiple mine base locations or business related activities which preclude the visits.
  • Collaborates with base leads for Paramedic activities
  • Assures proper coverage for all medical shifts
  • Secures replacement staff for all work absences
  • Reviews electronic payroll of crew members for accuracy and submits for approval before the stated deadline
  • Receives medically related mine problems or issues from mine paramedics, mine leadership, customers and patients. Resolves medically related problems or issues as they occur with feedback to appropriate persons or refers the issue to the appropriate person for resolution
  • Recommends and implements changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of medical staff and base performance
  • Assures proper ordering, use, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment and supplies
  • Participates in the evaluation of new equipment/supplies and oversees inventory and supplies
  • Oversees the base spending, remains within budget for the base and submits the required reports as defined by policy
  • Responsible for, or coordination of, the maintenance and organization of facilities with mine leadership
  • Conducts, in conjunction, with the Safety Officer, monthly staff meetings at assigned base to include preparing an agenda, typing minutes and assuring delivery of minutes to all crew members and safety department.
  • Coordinate and participate in larger all-inclusive Regional base meetings
  • Ensures crew members follow policy for work related injuries and exposures
  • Submits detailed reports to the RD and VPO, as requested.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Mine Educator, Regional Clinical Manager and Medical Director to resolve any deficiencies
  • Reviews monthly CQI reports refers those with deficiencies to Mine Clinical Educator, Regional Clinical Manager, Medical Director or Director of Clinical Care Services
  • Collaborates with State Representatives for ambulance inspections
  • Collaborates with CAMTS or other accrediting agencies
  • Participates in program specific, company specific and GMR meetings
  • Completes mandatory assigned training through LMS

Staff Supervision:

  • Delegates assignments and holds employees accountable for work completion
  • Develops individuals medical crew members talents by promoting professional growth, education, involvement, and decision making
  • Accountable for medical crew licensure, certifications, and clinical requirements in conjunction with the Mine Clinical Manager
  • Ensures the required credentials are submitted by the base crew members in the applicable licensure platform
  • Collaborates with base leads to ensure assigned staff has the required MSHA, Sites and mine specific training to meet local, corporate and government compliance
  • Ensures narcotic counts are completed per policy; all staff document narcotic use per policy; and reports any discrepancies immediately to the RD, Regional Clinical Manager, Compliance and HR.
  • Interviews and hires candidates for Mine Paramedic positions at the assigned bases
  • Assists new employees with completion of the orientation process. Monitors new employee performance by assigning a preceptor and working closely with the base lead, Mine Clinical Educator and Regional Clinical Manager to ensure successful transition into the position, throughout the orientation process.
  • Prepares annual employee evaluations for assigned medical staff
  • Ability to evaluate and observe crew members in real time situations both above and underground
  • Carries out disciplinary action with input from the RD, Regional Clinical Manager, Mine Clinical Educator (as needed) and Human Resources
  • Resource for the dissemination of new information and problem resolution for the base crew members
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws

Departmental Collaboration:

  • Participates in the interview process for the selection of Mine Clinical Educator and Mine Paramedics to be assigned to the base as requested, as needed for other Regional programs
  • Collaborates with Mine Safety and Rescue personnel and Mine leadership

Marketing and Business Development:

  • Identifies and establishes strong business relationships with all customers within the assigned area
  • Coordinates customer relations/marketing activities for the base crew members
  • Ensures that relationship building activities occur with each customer through personal visits from the Mine Program Director
  • Orders marketing supplies per company policy within approved budget and ensures appropriate use of these supplies
  • Attends local and regional Mine meetings, EMS/Hospital/advisory group meetings as needed
  • Other essential functions as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • College degree preferred
  • Two years of leadership experience preferred
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Must obtain, within 30 days of hire, MSHA certification for above and below ground mining

  • Familiarity and ability to navigate assigned charting and CQI platform

  • Lift and/or move up to 150 pounds cumulative with assistance
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule
