Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization, providing a positive, professional, and compassionate experience for patients during specimen collection. This role is responsible for collecting and preparing high-quality blood samples for laboratory testing while ensuring accuracy, safety, and adherence to established procedures. The PSR I builds trust with patients by clearly explaining procedures, maintaining confidentiality, and performing all duties with precision and care. This position is ideal for candidates who are newly trained in phlebotomy and looking to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily specimen collection and processing accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor
Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment at all times
Collect both forensic and clinical specimens following established standards and procedures
Accurately document and maintain required records and specimen data
Provide excellent customer service to patients, clients, and coworkers
Demonstrate professionalism, organizational commitment, and confidentiality
Follow all safety, compliance, and quality assurance policies
Support team operations and maintain flexibility to meet staffing needs
Job Requirements
Ability to produce accurate, quality work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections, or willingness to learn
Flexible and available for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
0-6 months of phlebotomy experience preferred; new graduates welcome to apply
6-12 months of phlebotomy experience highly preferred but not required
Customer service experience in a retail or service environment highly preferred
Keyboarding and data entry proficiency required
Additional Job Details
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (Day Shift, Eastern Time)
This position is not eligible for remote work
COVID-19 vaccination not required
Candidates must reside within a 20-25-minute commute of the worksite
Reliable personal transportation required (bus, Uber, or rideshare services are not considered reliable)
Must arrive on time, remain for the full shift, and maintain dependable attendance; excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination
Candidates must list home city and commute time on their resume; pay rate is based on years of direct experience (overlapping roles not counted twice)
