Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the organization, providing high-quality patient care through skilled specimen collection and professional interaction. This role involves drawing blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring all procedures are performed safely, accurately, and efficiently. The PSR II creates a positive, trustworthy environment by clearly explaining procedures and maintaining confidentiality. Successful applicants may work in a physician's office, patient service center, or other designated sites as business needs require. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily specimen collection and processing accurately and on schedule under the direction of the area supervisor
Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment at all times
Conduct both forensic and clinical specimen collection following established practices and procedures
Verify patient demographic information, initials, and signatures post-venipuncture to ensure accurate labeling and identification
Maintain all required documentation and specimen records accurately
Provide exceptional service and communication to patients, clients, and coworkers
Demonstrate commitment to confidentiality, quality, and organizational standards
Follow all company policies, including those related to safety, dress code, and quality assurance
Travel to and provide coverage at multiple locations as needed, sometimes with short notice
Support continuous improvement and maintain flexibility in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Job Requirements
Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced setting
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections
Flexible and available to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record (if applicable)
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs
Demonstrated customer focus, teamwork, and professionalism
Training location may vary based on trainer availability
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
At least 2 years of experience in a patient service center environment preferred
Customer service experience in a retail or service setting preferred
Keyboarding and data entry proficiency required
Candidates with at least 1 year of phlebotomy experience may be considered
Additional Job Details
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (Day Shift, Eastern Time)
This position is not eligible for remote work
COVID-19 vaccination not required
No state licensure requirements for this role
Candidates must reside within a 20-25-minute commute to the assigned worksite
Reliable personal transportation required (bus, Uber, or rideshare not considered reliable)
Must arrive on time, remain for the full shift, and maintain dependable attendance-excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination
Candidates must list home city and commute time on their resume; compensation is based on years of direct experience (overlapping roles not counted twice)
