Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, ensuring a professional, compassionate, and efficient experience during specimen collection. This role involves drawing quality blood samples and preparing them for laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures. The PSR I builds trust with patients by explaining procedures clearly, maintaining confidentiality, and performing all duties with accuracy, safety, and professionalism. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily specimen collection and processing duties accurately and on schedule under the direction of the area supervisor
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment at all times
Execute both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established standards and procedures
Ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of all required records
Provide excellent customer service while promoting a positive image to patients, clients, and team members
Uphold confidentiality and demonstrate attention to detail in all aspects of patient care
Adhere to organizational policies, compliance requirements, and quality standards
Job Requirements
Ability to produce accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance and performance
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required
One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred
Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service setting preferred
Proficiency with data entry and keyboarding required
Additional Job Details
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday-Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
This position is not eligible for remote work
COVID-19 vaccination not required
Candidates must reside within a 20-25-minute commute of the worksite
Reliable transportation is required; public transit, Uber, or rideshare services are not considered reliable transportation
Must arrive on time, remain for the full shift, and maintain dependable attendance-excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination
Candidates must list home city and commute time on their resume; compensation is based on years of direct experience
