Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative III - Floater (PSR III) serves as a key representative of the organization, providing high-quality patient care and specimen collection across multiple locations. This position involves drawing and processing blood samples with precision, professionalism, and adherence to established protocols while creating a positive and trusting environment for patients. The Floater role requires regular travel between assigned sites to provide coverage as needed. PSR IIIs must consistently demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and strong communication skills in varied work environments. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily specimen collection and processing duties accurately and on schedule under the direction of the area supervisor
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment across all assigned locations
Conduct both forensic and clinical specimen collections with confidence and accuracy
Verify patient demographic information, initials, and signatures following venipuncture to ensure accurate labeling
Clearly explain collection procedures to patients while maintaining confidentiality and patient comfort
Accurately document all work performed, including required records and specimen logs
Demonstrate professionalism, strong organizational commitment, and adherence to quality and compliance standards
Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, coworkers, and the public
Provide site coverage as directed and ensure punctual arrival at all assigned locations
Job Requirements
Ability to perform high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
Flexible schedule, including availability for weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as required
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills using established procedures and sound judgment
Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and a clean driving record required
Ability to travel daily between multiple sites; mileage reimbursement provided
Commitment to professionalism, attendance, punctuality, and adherence to dress code and company policies
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
Willingness to attend training sessions at varying locations as scheduled
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
Two or more years of experience in a patient service center or similar healthcare environment preferred
Customer service experience in a retail or service-oriented environment preferred
Keyboarding and data entry proficiency required
Additional Job Details
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
This position is not eligible for remote work
COVID-19 vaccination not required
Candidates must reside within a 20-25-minute commute to assigned sites
Reliable personal transportation required (bus, Uber, and rideshare services are not considered reliable)
Must list home city and commute time on resume; compensation is based on years of direct experience (overlapping roles not counted twice)
Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination
Floaters must maintain a clean driving record and arrive on time at all assigned locations for coverage
Eligible for mileage reimbursement for travel between sites
