Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative III - Floater (PSR III) serves as a key representative of the organization, providing professional and compassionate patient care through high-quality specimen collection and processing across multiple work locations. This role requires skillful, safe, and accurate venipuncture and specimen handling while ensuring patient comfort, confidentiality, and trust. The PSR III Floater supports various sites, including physician offices and patient service centers, depending on business needs, and must be dependable, flexible, and capable of adapting to different work environments. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily specimen collection and processing duties accurately and on schedule under the supervision of the area supervisor
Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment in all assigned locations
Confidently collect both forensic and clinical specimens following established practices and procedures
Verify patient demographic information, initials, and signatures post-venipuncture to ensure accurate labeling and identification
Maintain accurate documentation and required specimen records in compliance with company and regulatory standards
Clearly explain procedures to patients while maintaining empathy, professionalism, and confidentiality
Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and coworkers
Adhere to company policies, including safety, dress code, and guiding principles for excellence
Travel to multiple work locations as needed, sometimes with short notice, to provide coverage
Manage multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on established procedures
Participate in training sessions at designated locations as assigned
Job Requirements
Ability to deliver accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Strong independent work ethic with minimal on-site supervision
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record required
Strong organizational, decision-making, and customer service skills
Ability to handle multiple assignments and maintain professionalism under pressure
Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and company standards
Training locations may vary based on trainer availability
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
At least 2 years of experience in a patient service center or clinical environment preferred
Customer service experience in a retail or service setting preferred
Keyboarding and data entry proficiency required
Additional Job Details
Schedule: Day Shift, Eastern Time; hours may range from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
This position is not eligible for remote work
COVID-19 vaccination not required
No state-specific credentials or licenses required
Reliable personal transportation required (bus, Uber, or rideshare services are not considered reliable)
Must arrive on time, remain for the full shift, and maintain dependable attendance; excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination
Floating coverage area includes, but is not limited to, Woodstock, Canton, Powder Springs, Villa Rica, and Temple
