Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the organization, providing high-quality, professional, and compassionate service to patients during specimen collection. This role is responsible for collecting and processing blood samples accurately, safely, and efficiently while ensuring patient comfort and confidentiality. The PSR II supports daily laboratory operations by maintaining compliance with established procedures and demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills. Successful applicants may work in a physician's office, patient service center, or other assigned locations based on business needs. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily specimen collection and processing duties accurately and on schedule under the direction of the area supervisor
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment at all times
Conduct both forensic and clinical specimen collections in accordance with established procedures
Verify patient demographic information, initials, and signatures after venipuncture to confirm accurate labeling and identification
Maintain all required documentation and specimen records with accuracy and confidentiality
Provide exceptional service and communication to patients, clients, and colleagues
Demonstrate professionalism and adherence to company policies, including dress code, health and safety, and guiding principles
Travel to and provide coverage at multiple locations when needed, sometimes with minimal notice
Make sound decisions based on established procedures and good judgment
Manage multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Participate in training at designated locations as assigned
Job Requirements
Ability to perform high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced setting
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections
Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed
Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record (if applicable)
Ability to travel and adjust to changing site assignments
Commitment to punctuality, attendance, and professional standards
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
At least 2 years of experience in a patient service center environment preferred
Customer service experience in a retail or service setting preferred
Keyboarding and data entry proficiency required
Additional Job Details
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (Eastern Time)
This position is not eligible for remote work
COVID-19 vaccination not required
No state-specific license required for this role
Candidates must live within a 20-25-minute commute of the assigned worksite
Reliable personal transportation required (bus, Uber, or rideshare not considered reliable)
Must arrive on time, remain for the entire shift, and maintain consistent attendance; excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination
Candidates must list home city and commute time on their resume; compensation is based on years of direct experience (overlapping roles not counted twice)
