Your role

The Manufacturing Systems Engineer drives digitalization and automation across production systems, offering technical support for operations and process improvement. This role involves troubleshooting, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration at our New Hudson facility and with the U.K. engineering team to uphold best practices. Reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

You will



  • Lead Industry 4.0, digitalization, and smart factory initiatives

  • Design and commission industrial automation systems with IoT integration

  • Develop automation solutions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime

  • Engineer data connectivity between equipment and databases for real-time analysis

  • Troubleshoot complex equipment and network issues to minimize production disruptions

  • Implement data collection/reporting systems for continuous improvement

  • Uphold OT cybersecurity strategies and serve as the OT Champion for best practices

  • Manage and optimize the Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and IT for seamless system integration

  • Support installation and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment

  • Communicate project updates and technical requirements to stakeholders

  • Document process improvements, SOPs, and system changes

  • Monitor emerging Industry 4.0 technologies and recommend enhancements

  • Perform additional duties as required

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Flexible and responsive to shifting operational priorities

  • Proficient in SQL and database management; basic programming experience preferred

  • Familiarity with PLC programming, ERP systems, and MS Power Platform

  • Knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus) and Windows Domain Infrastructure

  • Understanding of network/server maintenance is a plus

  • Local travel required; must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship)
