Key Responsibilities:

Data Governance

  1. Provide strategic oversight and direction for the TDOE Data Governance Program, ensuring alignment with departmental and state-wide data priorities.
  2. Develop and execute the departments annual data governance plan, establishing clear priorities, implementation timelines, and measurable outcomes.
  3. Lead biweekly Data Collab meetings with departmental data leads to enhance cross-functional collaboration, formalize policies and processes, and optimize departmental data structures.
  4. Direct department-wide data documentation initiatives, ensuring comprehensive internal technical documentation and user-friendly external data guides for publicly released datasets.
  5. Spearhead efforts to streamline academics legislatively mandated reporting by proactively identifying recurring data needs, developing requirements for dashboards, and reducing ad-hoc data requests.
  6. Oversee and facilitate cross-functional working groups to address and resolve complex data governance challenges, including coordination, decision-making, leadership engagement, and implementation follow-up.
  7. Support department-wide transition efforts from EIS to TEDS data systems, providing guidance and support to internal users.

Data Request Fulfillment

  1. Gain deep expertise in department data systems by actively contributing to data requests through querying, validation, and quality assurance checks.
  2. Process internal and external data requests for mandated reports, legislative requests, and program area requests.
  3. Read and interpret technical documentation, including law, rule, policy, and process plans.
  4. Establish and maintain detailed documentation on data cleaning protocols and relevant business rules.
  5. Provide other data support to program teams across the department as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Possession of a master's degree in education, education administration or other related field and substantial educational work experience (5 or more years) including 3 years of education administration or supervisory work.
