As capable, independent, technical resources, Senior Project Geoscientists handle core technical issues, work nationally across multiple projects, and lead the work of others on certain projects. They balance work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of large projects and can identify external clients or additional opportunities within existing projects. Senior Project Geoscientists are proven leaders within the practice who regularly contribute to the technical learning of others through mentorship and other opportunities. Location: Expected Outcomes:
- Lead entire scopes of work (office and field) under PM direction.
- Coordinate sampling and analytical activities to meet project requirements, standards, and deadlines.
- Provide potential solutions and troubleshoot project challenges and issues with support of the PM.
- Delegate tasks to junior and mid-level staff while adhering to project schedules, budgets, and objectives.
- Work with subcontractors and coordinate with procurement for assigned tasks.
- Coordinate quality control (QC) support/administrative and senior staff.
- Interact with clients in support of specific technical challenges.
- Write complex technical reports using concise terminology for use by high-level decision makers.
- Review technical reports, edit material, and provide suggestions to improve clarity with respect to the targeted audience.
- Actively shift goals and priorities to align with directional changes.
- Mentor and coach technical staff.
- Monitor staff performance and provide input to Organizational Managers for staff promotions, transfers, and performance appraisals.
- Apply unique technical solutions that maximize project margin.
- Assist in crafting creative financial solutions on proposals to create win/win scenarios with clients. Develop complex technical approaches for field data collection and evaluation.
- Maintain auditable and orderly files, notebooks, and correspondence on all project aspects.
- Prepare and give presentations to prospective and current clients, technical associations, and internal technical communities of practice.
- Provide senior review of reports and quality control/assurance project plans.
- Act as a liaison with other technical disciplines to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of project directives.
- Serve as a technical resource for at least one area of expertise.
- Prepare proposals or sections of proposals relating to the geoscience practice regarding scope, schedule, and equipment needed. Perform a variety of pricing tasks using experience as a basis for costing proposals.
- Assist with updating and tracking schedule progress and project costs.
- Contribute significantly to sales goals and as a task leader on larger projects.
- Manage projects' Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Program compliance for medium-to-high-risk projects. Ability to perform medium-to-high-risk EHS activities with minimal oversight and direction. Adjust project schedule and safety parameters (project delays, changed conditions, re-address Health and Safety Plan [HASP]) where appropriate. Manage field staff regarding project- / site-specific EHS requirements and ensure alignment with EHS Program.
- Identify and implement EHS improvements / remedies in alignment with the EHS Program and project.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Professional Geologist (P.G.) License/Certification required, if available.
- Membership in professional organizations suited to specific practice is highly encouraged.
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geoscience, or a related field, plus at least 10 years of related experience.
- Experience must include 5 years in planning field activities and assisting in scoping projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks to meet project requirements.
- Ability to understand and adapt to changing project conditions or client needs.
- Capable of using a range of communication methods to promote dialogue and develop shared understanding and consensus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Demonstrated technical competence and willingness to instruct junior staff in areas of specialization.
- Demonstrated leadership traits are highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, manage, and lead entire projects.
- Ability to function in outdoor locations such as active construction and/or remediation sites.
- Ability to walk long distances on varied terrain, climb ladders, and work at elevation.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Available for periodic travel, as needed.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Salary Range: $85,895-$113,570-$141,143
