The Director Engineering BIM/VDC is responsible for overseeing business operations and providing strategic directions to staff. Manages career development for staff while aligning capabilities to meet current and future market needs. Holds the team accountable for meeting task schedules, producing quality deliverables, and respecting project budgets/earned value projections. Partners with Project Management in achieving contracted deliverables and target profitability margins on projects. Establishes the strategy for delivering the Exyte VDC programs and collaboration with Stakeholders. Manages the VDC department for the USA region and collaborates with Corporate to align VDC strategy and goals. Manages the budget.

  • Establishes the strategy for delivering VDC programs and collaboration with Stakeholders
  • Establishes and maintains relationships in Stakeholder organizations and acts as the primary contact and counsel to Senior Management on the VDC program and strategy execution
  • Manages the VDC Department; identifies gaps and works to improve individuals' capabilities through coaching, development, and training
  • Oversees integrated VDC best practices, procedures, workflows and technology innovations
  • Develops, champions and implements regional goals. To the extent possible, will be in alignment with, and in support of Corporate VDC Strategy and goals
  • Aligns with the Global VDC organization as it relates to strategy, learning, development, and overall collaboration
  • Integrates VDC procedures into all aspects of USA region Operations
  • Stays informed of regional client and market sector expectations and participate in related industry organizations and conferences
  • Coordinates with USA's region Information Technology organization to develop and maintain budgets for strategic relationship with regional VDC platform vendors.
  • Defines and ensures adequate hardware, software, connectivity and reliability of project delivery tools
  • Supports regional Business Development / Marketing functions in communicating VDC strategy, capabilities, and experience
  • Responsible for acquiring and maintaining corporate licenses in all districts where professional registration is held
  • May also be required to obtain licensure in additional districts, as determined by business needs
  • Other duties as assigned by the Client and or Management

Minimum Required

  • Bachelor's degree in BIM/VDC Engineering or related field preferred
  • 15+ years of related experience
  • 4+ years of management experience
  • Demonstrated projects leading the development of Construction Documents

Preferred

  • Experience with projects in design and construction utilizing VDC/BIM for advanced technology clients in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, nanotechnology, semiconductor, and renewable energies markets, as well as projects in the military and government market segments are all preferred
  • Direct engagement with clients on the above projects preferred

Skills & Knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop plans, sections, and details for complex projects AutoCAD, Revit and other standard Industry tools and software
  • Able to lead teams, including project teams of designers in the use of company graphic standards and conventions
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in roles integral in solving or directing the resolution of complex technical or design problems utilizing AutoCAD and Revit
  • Superior knowledge of VDC technologies, especially in all phases of engineering, construction, pre-construction, self-perform, and fabrication
  • Understanding of integrated project workflows and advanced project management
  • Ability to travel, including internationally
  • Highly adept at interfacing / aligning multiple stakeholders with diplomacy. Inclusive, collaborative, and values different opinions and perspectives
  • Experience driving / managing change * Project / program management
  • Appreciation for cultural differences and experience in multi-cultural teams
  • Team member management and mentorship
  • Exceptional presentation skills for customers and executives
