Director, Commercial Training - Remote Position

The Director, Commercial Training supports the commercial organization by leading the strategy and execution of our training programs in collaboration with marketing, sales, market access and medical affairs. This is a home-office based position and requires an individual that has established leadership and management experience, developed training and learning platforms, strong vendor management capabilities and exceptional collaboration skills to interact with cross-functional teams. The key responsibilities for the role are: 1) Strategic oversight and of training related to clinical fluency and soft skill development, 2) Tactical leadership of training execution 3) Development of new training curricula with a particular focus on Puma's commercial product, NELRYNX (neratininb) indicated for women with HER2+ early stage breast cancer following trastuzumab-based therapy. Major Duties/Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute a wide variety of commercial initiatives and new hire sales training and development, to ensure the sales team has a high level of clinical fluency and competencies to be successful

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners in assessing training needs and developing training solutions to enhance education and expertise

  • Lead complex cross functional projects that are high exposure and high impact

  • Participate as integral member of launch and brand teams to implement commercial plans

  • Collaborate with sales management to develop and plan the training content for the company's regional/national meetings

  • Partner with leadership to develop ad hoc training to address development needs as required to meet business goals

  • Manage and evaluate commercial vendors and partners

  • Establish and adhere to budgets within overall departmental budget

  • Develop metrics to assess impact of key initiatives

  • Ensure the activities under his/her responsibilities are in line with the company policies and procedures.

  • Establish wide commercial policies, procedures and processes to prepare for commercialization and launch of future Puma products, to include disease state training.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Field time will be required to assist with onboarding new hires, assess training gaps and opportunities to upskill both clinical and selling skills.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong self-starter capabilities coupled with the ability to build working relationships throughout the organization to achieve business goals

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Effective management skills with ability to lead in cross-functional settings

  • Background in selling, leading, and/or developing training and development for Oncology brands

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to appropriately define issues, questions and implement change when necessary.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to drive toward consensus.

  • Exceptional persuasive written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to present the facts and put forth hypothesis in the face of differing opinions.

  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to establish logical flow and story and skilled in choosing best graphic representation for points to be made.

  • Ability to adjust to changing needs within the organization and flexibility to change priorities as needed

Education & Professional Experience

Education

  • Minimum B.S. degree in business, science or related field

  • MBA/MHA/MPH or other graduate level program preferred

Experience

  • 10+ plus years of pharma or biotechnology experience in related area required

  • Prior oncology experience is highly preferred with specialty product experience as a minimum

  • Extensive experience with pharma/biotech commercial organizations

  • Extensive experience with sales and sales management

  • Experience in developing and executing sales training programs

  • Experience in developing sound strategic partnerships with Marketing, Sales and Market Access teams

The physical demands of the office are normally association with extended amounts of time sitting and using office equipment, including a computer, keyboard and mouse, which can cause muscle strain. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Periodic light lifting of supplies and materials may apply. Work is performed in an office environment.

20-25% Travel is required

Compensation Range

The base compensation range for this position is $220k - $250k per year, higher compensation may be available for someone with advanced skills and/or experience.

At Puma Biotechnology, we offer an attractive compensation package to our team members. Any offer would include a competitive base salary (estimate shared above), an annual incentive bonus with a target of 20% of base salary, and a robust benefits package. Actual individual pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
