Franchise Medical Head, ViiV

Job Purpose

The ViiV Franchise Medical Head is a senior level Medical affairs role that has overall Medical Affairs accountability for ViiV global medical strategy, and provides oversight of all Global Medical Affairs activities for marketed assets within ViiV. The FMH is accountable for the integrated evidence strategies and plans for ViiV, including at portfolio level where they bridge across assets. The FMH is the strategic medical lead for annual business planning, and is accountable for Code compliance and medical sign-off related to marketed products.

The FMH leads a team consisting of Global Medical Leads (Marketed products, Mature products, and Paediatrics) and the Head of Patient Engagement (approximately 5 direct reports leading a group of approximately 25 individuals). This role has overall accountability of ViiV's portfolio of marketed products, with input into pipeline development and planning for future launches, in addition to leading and overseeing patient engagement and above brand activities.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for development and execution of portfolio-level global Medical Affairs strategy for all VH brands, and owns the Core Medical Narrative
  • Provides medical strategic leadership for all Global Medical Affairs for VH assets (full marketed portfolio with input into pipeline assets) in pre-launch, launch and life cycle management stages. This includes determining medical "share of voice" for each asset across the portfolio, for yearly business planning, at congresses, etc.
  • Accountable for phase 3b/4 research strategy and execution, and the Investigator-sponsored research portfolio related to marketed products.
  • Accountable for all above brand medical activities to ensure alignment with the overall VH strategy and cross-functional above brand activities (e.g. with Commercial, External Affairs, regions, etc).
  • Decision maker for strategic prioritization across brands, and between brand vs non-branded medical activities.
  • Oversee and provide strategic direction to Global Patient Affairs Lead, to ensure alignment of patient affairs activities with brand and above-brand priorities across VH, including working with key stakeholders in all other areas of the business (R&D, Commercial, Government Affairs and Access, Regions).
  • Core member of Global Medical LT, RDGM LT, VSLC, RMCB, MGEC
  • Accountable for franchise-wide medical insights, integrated evidence strategy & plans, and medical stakeholder communications
  • Represent the medical voice into R&D and Commercial
  • Tracks GMA metrics and performance for global activities
  • Accountable for Medical Governance of global medical affairs activities and works with Regional Medical Heads
  • Senior Medical Leadership of business planning process each year

Basic Qualifications

  • MD, PharmD or equivalent with a specialism in Infectious Disease
  • Over 10 years clinical practice and/or pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Medical affairs leadership experience at country and above country level
  • Launch experience plus lifecycle management experience
  • Experience working within or collaborating with clinical development, including study design, protocol development, statistical analysis plans
  • Experience of different Healthcare and Access models, including reimbursement decision making across a global environment
  • Experience in medical governance
  • Experience of partnering with Commercial operations and other functions

  • Strong Teamworking and relationship building skills, including understanding how to work across multiple countries and regions and with different cultural approaches

  • Board certification
  • HIV therapy area experience
