About the Job

Position Overview

The Learning Technologies (LT) program area within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Online Programs in Learning Technologies. The LT program area prepares students to apply and think critically about the use of technology in education, including formal and informal settings (e.g., PreK-12, higher education, business, non-profit)

This is a 12-month,100% FTE, Academic Professional and Administrative (P&A) appointment that reports to the Department Administrator. The successful applicant will coordinate program and curriculum development efforts, outreach, and community engagement to advance the growth of the LT program. In particular, they will coordinate and grow enrolments in current and future online courses, certificates, and degrees. Current programs include a fully-online MEd degree; partially-online PhD degree; and a fully online undergraduate minor.

The successful applicant will consult and collaborate with the Learning Technologies community of program area faculty, instructors, students, student services staff, and marketing/communications staff. They will also consult more broadly with leadership and other units in the College of Education and Human Development. They will engage in outreach with other colleges at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and the UMN Office of Distributed Learning to serve the University of Minnesota system and make online courses and academic programs in Learning Technologies accessible to all students across the UMN system and beyond. The successful applicant will contribute to efforts to position Learning Technologies and the University of Minnesota as a global provider for world-class, inclusive, and community-centric online education programming.

The pay range for this position will be $62,000 - $75,000.

Job Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Program Management, Partnerships, and Recruitment (90%)

* Serve as program advisor for Learning Technologies online students
* Assist current and prospective students by responding to inquiries related to admissions, career pathways, and degree-to-career alignment, helping them make informed decisions and select courses that best fit their educational and professional goals
* Develop non-credit to for-credit student pathways, in collaboration with Learning Technologies faculty, department, college, and university groups
* Participate in decisions relating to the policies, courses, staffing, and program administration for the Learning Technologies online courses and programs
* Develop, revise, and maintain online program manuals
* Support Learning Technologies faculty in curriculum development
* Coordinate student recruitment and outreach efforts
* Maintain and grow the online presence of the Learning Technologies program
* Coordinate events and activities to foster a sense of community amongst enrolled students
* Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students as necessary
* Support the Learning Technologies Program Area Coordinator with program area duties such as course scheduling and area program management activities
* Participate in Learning Technologies program area meetings and events, and department meetings.

Service (10%)

* Participate in department service activities, including internal committees or task forces. When applicable and within capacity, service to college, university, and community service or other outreach activities, and/or collaborating with external constituencies as well as in the activities of relevant state and national professional organizations may be approved.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

* BA/BS degree plus at least five years of relevant experience, or master's degree plus at least three years of relevant experience.
* Experience working in online education, program management, and/or teaching in higher education
* Commitment and ability to collaborate effectively with people from diverse communities and backgrounds
* Exceptional communication skills, especially in tech-mediated oral and written communication
* Understanding of social media platforms
* Excellent time management, attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

* Masters or doctorate in learning technologies, educational technology, instructional design, or related field(s)
* Experience in advising, coaching, teaching or mentoring adult learners
* Experience with database programs related to student record keeping, scheduling systems, degree progress, and Google applications
* Experience in managing online programs and degrees

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $62,000 - $75,000; Final salary offers are dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity within the department.

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
