ABOUT THE JOB:

The Agronomist is responsible for managing and expanding relationships with agricultural clients, promoting products and services, and achieving sales targets within a designated territory. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, delivering tailored solutions, agribusiness' needs, and ensuring exceptional customer service throughout the sales cycle.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



    Account Management



    • Manage and grow an assigned sales territory or portfolio.
    • Build strong relationships with key decision-makers at distribution partners.
    • Quickly follow up with leads, prospects, and customer needs.
    • Meet or exceed sales targets including:


      • Gross margin growth
      • New account development
      • Margin per pound and revenue goals


    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the agriculture market.
    • Participate in regular team meetings and market strategy discussions.
    • Conduct quarterly visits to the corporate office and meetings with leadership.
    • Track and report performance metrics (volume, revenue, margin %, etc.).
    • Entertain and engage customers/prospects as necessary.
    • Complete self-assessments for bi-annual performance reviews.


    Customer Service



    • Provide technical support for customers
    • Work cross functionally to drive sales initiatives
    • Identify key decision makers and cultivate relationships to ensure satisfaction and confidence in Hawkins products and services


    ABOUT YOU:



    • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in:


      • Agronomy, Soil & Crop Management, Agricultural Chemistry, Crop Science, Sustainable Agriculture, Microbiology, Agricultural Economics, or Agribusiness.


    • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial agriculture; fertilizer sales experience preferred.
    • Existing agriculture relationships in the Southeast U.S. are highly desirable.
    • Strong presentation, oral, and written communications skills
    • Strong personal skills needed to interact with customers in all departments within the company
    • Ability to identify key personnel within accounts to further selling cycle
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Ability to gain supplier and customer trust and build strong relationships
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and job-specific software.
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently (preferred, not required).
    • Ability to travel up to 50% (including overnight stays 1-2 nights/week).
    • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.

    TRAVEL

    Up to 50%

    Expected Compensation: $100,000-117,000 + 10% Bonus Eligibility
