General Function:

Responsible for supporting the development, specification, design, and testing of machinery and equipment related to Belvac Engineered Machinery. This includes mechanical concept development, detailed design and analysis, engineering drawing creation and checking, Bills of Material development and issuance, Change Order initiation and completion, and Value Engineering for all new and existing Belvac products. Assist Assembly, Service, and Sales in technical discussions on products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design of mechanical components and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor and Vault 2020 or later.
  • Creation and maintenance of Product Line Bills of Materials.
  • With oversight and direction, work on simple assemblies or on tasks in support of larger engineering projects.
  • With oversight and direction, support the build and commissioning of Belvac Machinery by addressing mechanical design related inquiries from Fabrication, Assembly, Purchasing, and Production Control.
  • Value Engineer designs to achieve cost reduction while maintaining/improving function, under direct supervision of a Senior Engineer.
  • Initiation and completion of Engineering Change Orders to address issues with mechanical designs and/or drawings.

Education:

BSME or equivalent

Experience:

Required

  • Familiar with shop fabrication methods and techniques
  • Competence in 3D solid modeling and drafting software such as Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, or ProE
  • Experience in the design of Mechanical Machinery.
  • Good technical communication (verbal and written)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Desired

  • Competence with Autodesk Inventor 2020 (or later)
  • Working knowledge of document control systems - preferably Autodesk Vault
  • Knowledge of drafting standard ANSI Y14.5 (1994 or later)
  • Working knowledge of tolerances and stack-up analysis
  • Working knowledge of CE (European Safety Standards) or OSHA
  • Two years or more of industrial experience in the design of High-Speed Rotating Machinery or related field
