Department Summary: The Genetics department at BCH is one of the largest pediatric genetics practices in the country. We have experience with both common conditions and very rare conditions affecting just a few hundred children in the world. We specialize in finding answers for complex and hard-to-diagnose genetic conditions, sometimes applying new technologies through our research labs when existing genetic tests are negative or inconclusive. Our large program includes more than 30 board-certified clinical geneticists, genetic counselors, dieticians, and nursing staff. Key responsibilities: Supporting the Genetics Clinics at 300 Longwood and 2 Brookline Place. Will also float to Allergy, Dermatology, Immunology, and Rheumatology clinical specialties. Assisting clinician during examinations (i.e. obtaining, measuring and recording routine information such as temperature and blood pressure, and performing other related duties according to specific needs of clinic). Scheduling, receiving and/or registering patients, visitors and staff for appointments or procedures. Collecting, verifying and recording required information according to established procedures and instructions. Identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse. Obtaining records, files and/or results for appointments and entering related information on appropriate computer systems. Answering, screening and routing telephone calls and performing general office support tasks. Transporting patients, supplies and equipment as needed. Working a schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with 1 Saturday morning shift per month. Minimum qualifications: Education: A HS Diploma or equivalent. Experience: 1 year of Clinical Assistant experience or related experience. Pediatric experience strongly preferred.
