Job Overview: The University of Missouri - Columbia is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional to support the university's real property portfolio. This position plays a vital role in managing decision making processes for real property contributing to the strategic development and stewardship of university-owned and leased properties. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage campus level governance and approvals to support real property decisions including space utilization, financial stewardship, acquisitions, dispositions, leases, easements, and licenses.
- Analyze effectiveness of current activities and provide recommendations for improvements or key changes.
- Evaluate property and space inventories to identify opportunities for monetization or strategic realignment using physical and financial analysis.
- Support strategic planning for space optimization.
- Develop operational cost information for various types of real property in the campus portfolio.
- Support internal departments with space planning, property use requests, and real estate-related inquiries, taking a strategic, future thinking approach.
- Validate division level requests, and seek MU stakeholder input (ie Finance, Campus Facilities, Space Planning & Management, MUPD, Parking, etc).
- Maintain awareness and participate in MU master planning and capital planning.
- Maintain awareness of MU Health Care portfolio to coordinate related efforts.
- Partner with UM System Real Estate as they initiate due diligence processes on MU's behalf.
- Partner with UM Real Estate to monitor lease databases; track key dates and ensure compliance with lease terms and/or develop alternative options with the financial health of the University in mind.
- Collaborate with UM Procurement to gather input from MU units for vendor RFPs involving leased campus space.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations for university leadership.
- Ensure compliance with University of Missouri System policies, state regulations, and applicable laws.
Shift
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in real estate, business administration, urban planning, public administration, or a related field
- Experience in higher education or public sector real estate or property and space utilization
- Experience in understanding operational and capital expenses related to owned and leased facilities
- 5 years of experience in real estate, property management, or facilities coordination
- Familiarity with building space inventory systems (e.g., Archibus), lease management software, and GIS tools
- Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Anticipated Hiring Range
