Overview

Clean Transportation Solutions at TRC, formerly known as GNA, is at the forefront of the commercial fleet sector making a transition to lower carbon fuel and cleaner vehicle technologies, with a significant amount of work currently focused on medium- and heavy-duty battery electric trucks, and some hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks. With the growing array of regulations forcing fleets in this direction, unprecedented levels of grant and incentive dollars available to assist in such a transition, and increased efforts to reduce / eliminate carbon as part of corporate sustainability commitments, our work in this space will continue to grow. Commercial fleets will increasingly request support from TRC to assist in the development and execution of their clean / zero emission fleet strategy. TRC, CTS therefore seeks a Senior Director with experience in these areas to assist in the growing demands for fleet operators looking to develop such a strategy. Elements of the strategy will likely include, but not be limited to developing:

Responsibilities

  • A regulatory compliance plan, including reporting, for multiple state regulations;
  • A corporate fleet sustainability strategy, which includes responding to customer, investor and other third-party requirements for carbon accounting and reporting metrics;
  • A comprehensive incentive strategy that considers local, state, and federal grant programs, LCFS credits, utility program incentives, and other sources of third-party resources, as well as a plan for post-award grant reporting;
  • A fleet transition plan that considers the current state of zero emission vehicle technologies and the operational needs of the fleet business;
  • An infrastructure development plan that meets the needs of the business and planned vehicle deployments, as well as the timelines required to engage with the local utility;
  • An overall sourcing strategy which considers lead times influenced by supplier delivery capabilities, utility infrastructure development, grant funding programs and other such factors; and,
  • A workforce development plan to ensure that all levels of the fleet organization are aware and sufficiently trained to maintain and operate the new clean vehicles and infrastructure.

In addition to working with commercial fleets, it is envisioned that this role will work with the supplier community to analyze and understand the current and forward market, and work on strategies to strategically engage the market. The supplier community may include, but not be limited to:
