We are building Cisco Hypershield, a revolutionary security fabric designed to unify protection across public and private data centers, clouds, and physical locations. Engineered with AI from the ground up, Hypershield drives security outcomes beyond human capabilities, and you'll be at the heart of bringing this vision to life.

Your Impact

You will lead the engineering group that builds the SaaS Management Plane-the "brains" of Hypershield. As a hands-on technical leader, you will be the principal architectural voice for this critical component, owning its end-to-end design, technical roadmap, and feature delivery. You will not only write high-quality code and conduct rigorous technical reviews but also inspire and mentor a high-performing backend engineering team. Your ability to translate architectural vision into an actionable backlog and foster cross-functional collaboration will directly shape the future of Cisco's next-generation security platform.

In this pivotal role, you will:

• Translate product and architectural requirements into actionable development workstreams for the Hypershield Management Plane.
• Architect and build highly scalable, resilient backend APIs and services crucial for customer onboarding, intelligent asset grouping, AI-driven security policy orchestration, and real-time security monitoring. You will solve complex challenges related to multi-tenancy, data consistency, and performance at extreme scale for a mission-critical security product.
• Partner closely with architects, product managers, and peer engineering teams to ensure seamless alignment and integration across the platform.
• Represent the team in architecture reviews and cross-functional discussions, effectively communicating trade-offs and design decisions.
• Lead by example in writing high-quality code and contributing to technical documentation.
• Mentor and influence engineers across the team, fostering technical growth and cross-team collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of professional backend development in TypeScript, Go, JavaScript, or similar, including designing features for enterprise-grade security solutions.
• 3+ years of experience in network security, cloud computing, firewall and Kubernetes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong expertise with Golang in production environments.
• Full stack experience is preferred.
• Deep knowledge of firewalls, secure web gateways, SASE/SSE, and policy-management frameworks.
• Prior experience architecting management or control planes for security or networking products.
• Track record integrating third-party solutions and APIs; familiarity with AI/ML-driven security policy generation is a plus.
• Exceptional communication, coaching, and stakeholder-management skills across Engineering, Product, and UX.
