Alternative Power Generation (APG), a Willdan Company, is seeking a Construction Manager. APG is a national full- service design-build engineering, construction, and energy services company (ESCO).

We are currently looking for a motivated Solar Engineer to join our growing Engineering and Design team of highly specialized professionals. As part of the design team, you will support a variety of design efforts on substation, solar, microgrid and transmission and distribution projects for APG. The individual we are seeking should be highly skilled, articulate, motivated, self-managed, and a quick learner who can become part of the team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in and conduct many phases of electrical systems design for photovoltaic projects, including, but not limited to: site investigations; CAD production; design and contract documents; basic specifications; and the construction administration process.
  • Responsible for those design tasks assigned, and for quality of work in developing final construction documents from established concept designs or Design Development drawings.
  • Heavy production load.
  • Ability to independently complete the following engineering tasks with minimal guidance:
    1. Design drafting of electrical construction documents using AutoCAD
    2. Electrical distribution design and single line preparation
    3. Solar photovoltaic design
    4. Voltage calculations and conductor / raceway sizing
    5. Detailed PV Syst calculations
    6. Utility coordination
    7. Code review
    8. Preparation of specifications

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience in electrical engineering preferred.
  • Recent graduates with advanced degrees may apply. Course work in power systems - analysis, planning, relaying, renewable energy and microgrid design and management would be a plus.
  • 3+ years' experience designing substation and solar/storage systems.
  • 3+ years' experience with AutoCAD drafting software.
  • Knowledge of analysis software like ETAP and PSCAD preferred.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code and National Electrical safety Code is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact in a team environment.
