Michigan Technological University, the Institute of Computing and Cybersystems, invites applications for the position of Research Coordinator. The Institute for Computing and Cybersystems (ICC) at Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) promotes collaborative, cross-disciplinary research and learning experiences in the areas of biocomputing and digital health, computing education, cyber-physical systems, cybersecurity, data sciences, human-centered computing, and scalable architectures and systems. The ICC institute includes more than 100 collaborative faculty and researchers from 20 disciplines within the College of Computing, the College of Engineering, College of Sciences and Arts, College of Business, and the College of Forest Resources and Environmental Sciences. ICC staff support multiple centers operating under the ICC, including the Center for Artificial Intelligence, the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Culture and Technology, The Center for Cybersecurity, and the Elizabeth and Richard Henes Center for Quantum Phenomena.
The ICC is seeking to establish an additional professional staff position to provide:
1) comprehensive research development support (including pre- and post-award proposal development and management) to Institute members;
2) assist in day-to-day operations of the Institute
3) provide financial and accounting administrative assistance to Institute leadership
4) provide on-campus and external outreach to help foster Institute growth.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties
|
1. Provide comprehensive research support services including research development activities and pre-award support, including budgeting, grant writing, content development and formatting; and post-award project management, including financial tracking and reporting. 2. Coordinate the daily operations of the Institute. Work independently to manage workflow, develop operational procedures, set performance standards, track and manage operational deadlines, and work with Institute leadership to establish organizational protocol for research support services. Maintain a professional, efficient, safe, and welcoming environment for members, students, and research clients. Adapt processes and procedures to the diverse roles and evolving needs of the Institute. Identify and pursue ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational procedures to support research growth. 3. Utilize programs and platforms including BANNER, WebFocus, Perceptive Content, Microsoft and Google platforms, and ASPIRE to track, access, and report Institute financial and performance data. With the Institute leadership, identify and prepare routine and ad hoc reports that assist in the operation and reporting needs of the Institute. Perform financial analysis, index tracking, and fund reallocations as requested. 4. Analyze information and independently resolve problems in the efficient delivery of research grants and contracts; resolve, escalate, or route incoming requests appropriately. Seek solutions to support timely research delivery. 5. Develop and maintain a collegial relationship with staff in other departments/units towards maintaining a productive research support network. 6. Participate in Institute meetings and serve as an organizational representative on committees, if requested by Institute leadership. 7. Assist in the planning and organization of Institute functions, retreats, receptions, social gatherings, fundraising campaigns, and award nominations. 8. Other tasks as needed.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
|
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired

Required Experience
|
1. Relevant experience organizing and coordinating multiple research tasks including budgets, personnel documents, and supporting information for multiple clients/projects simultaneously. 2. Proficiency in advanced features of standard office software, such as the MS Office and Adobe products, and web-based productivity resources, such as Google Apps. 3. Experience coordinating people and processes to meet desired objectives.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

* Master's degree, or higher * Previous experience providing pre-award (proposal) support * Experience working in higher education, specifically focused on the delivery of academic research
