Summary
Oversee the installation, ongoing maintenance, and proper operation of all the organization's automated dispensing devices and will also support the efficient use of the pharmacy software and hardware utilized. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions -Monitors system activities and makes or coordinates any necessary repairs. -Trouble-shoots and repairs the devices when necessary, including opening/monitoring service tickets and vendor support dispatch. -Performs preventative maintenance as required. -Installs new hardware or software when required. -Participates in the multidisciplinary team to address system issues, develop and review policy/procedures, and contribute to planning. -Builds and configures medications, formulary, inventory, and other relevant information in the systems. -Oversees/participates in the rollout of new equipment or hardware upgrades. -Establishes and reviews daily reports, such as refills, stock-outs, all station events, discrepancies, overrides, ordered medications not loaded, etc. -May perform the duties of a Certified Pharmacy Technician as necessary. Education Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study preferred High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes Licenses and Credentials Pharmacy Technician Certification [CPhT] - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required Pharmacy Technician [State License] - Generic - HR Only required Experience Experience as a certified pharmacy technician with an understanding of electronic health record systems 3-5 years required and Experience with pharmacy computer systems and related technology 1-2 years preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Advanced knowledge of computers and computer software. - Knowledge of the basic operations of a hospital Pharmacy Department, including processing prescriber medication orders, the operations of the automated dispensing cabinets, and the safe and effective distribution of medications. - Solid interpersonal, organizational, technical, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to collaborate effectively with teams comprising individuals of many different backgrounds.
