POSITION SUMMARY:

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer III is responsible for the manufacturing operations of machined parts, overseeing tasks and projects to coordinate, develop, improve, and implement optimal, cost-effective processes and designs in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. This role will coordinate resources and activities to realize schedules and communicate progress of interdepartmental requests and needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develop and implement optimal, manufacturing processes and methods for fabrication, assembly, rework, and testing while adhering to product specifications and quality standards.
  • Recommend, implement, and lead improvements to fabrication designs, processes, methods and controls.
  • Identify and document the root causes of fabrication issues then propose and implement corrective actions to mitigate recurrence.
  • Create manufacturing documentation, work instructions, test procedures and engineering drawings clearly detailing fabrication sequences.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives based on performance metrics of fabrication processes, equipment and departmental trends.
  • Design, source, develop and test recommendations of tooling, machinery, and equipment for proposed manufacturing methods.
  • Manage vendor relationships by determining product specifications and arrange for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Provide input to management, engineering and other staff regarding fabrication capabilities, schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Apply analytical methods and perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiencies.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of systems, processes, and related equipment.
  • Mentor and train technicians, engineers and supervisors on manufacturing processes and methodologies
  • Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ME/EE/Manufacturing) or related field.
  • Six to eight years related experience in manufacturing of instrumentation or related field
  • Experience working with ISO, GMP and/or biotechnology industry organization is required
  • Supervisory experience is preferred


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  • Proficient with computer-based engineering methods
  • Proficient with CAD tools, SolidWorks preferred
  • Proficient with CAM tools, Mastercam and Esprit preferred
  • Strong technical manufacturing/industrial background is required.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills capable of organizing project tasks in a logical manner to realize the objectives
  • Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent documentation skills, technical writing and presentation skills are required
  • Ability to interact routinely and with vendors, staff and technical peers
  • Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of project data
  • Enthusiasm to maintain and promote a safe and orderly work environment
  • Creativity and autonomy are expected including the ability to multi-task and work productively in a controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Solid leadership skills with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of staff management practices and processes preferred.
  • Ability to establish accountabilities and expectations and manage performance to achieve results


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the individual is frequently required to sit and stand for long periods. The individual will occasionally be required to walk; use hands and arms to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. This position requires moving/lifting items up to 50lbs

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is performed in a traditional production environment and/or light-manufacturing facility.

COMPENSATION SUMMARY

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $101,400 to $154,700. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
