The Risk Management Coordinator will support the compliance, contractual and reporting requirements of the Company's Captive Insurance structure, provide management of and support for claims systems, provide data analysis, financial reporting, and perform other support functions within the Risk Management Department. The Risk Management Coordinator will also provide support to the Head of Risk Management.

Essential Duties:



  • Support in house captive insurance company through compliance related and financial reporting, analysis and administration
  • Management of claims system processes and resolving issues while working with system vendor and user group
  • Project and system communications between in-house IT and the claims system vendor(s)
  • Manage help desk for in-house claims system and issue resolution
  • Identify and resolve reporting needs throughout Risk Management Department and Ports Insurance company
  • Develop reports as needed through claims and reporting system
  • Provide spreadsheet analysis of claims and financial data
  • Maintain and structure KPI results for department
  • Manage collection of USLH payroll data and application to claim rates and premium billing to business units
  • Work directly with actuaries and auditors to provide data elements and review and discuss analysis
  • Identify, structure, and manage reports to operations both local and corporate
  • Research, information gathering regarding claims and department financial data
  • Manage historical files and documents in an organized manner, to easily locate and meet statutory guidelines and retention rules
  • Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests


  • Participate and support Senior Management with special projects
  • Create claim files electronically


  • Use of claims system to set up and adjust claim files


  • Administrative support for the claims department and will adjust non-compensatory (med only/no time loss) claim files
  • Work directly with Claims Managers, remotely, to handle all aspects of claims support through completion of claim file.
  • Ensuring statutory compliance with US Department of Labor filings and timelines
  • Other duties as assigned


Working Conditions:



  • General office environment
  • Limited or no travel requirements



Minimum Requirements:



  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5+ years office experience



Preferred Requirements:



  • 2+ years insurance and claims office experience preferred, or comparable financial background
  • Advanced computer skills including all Microsoft Office suite with intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Well organized, attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently and resourcefully with minimal supervision
  • Work effectively with remote staff
