The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Genetic Testing Coordinator to support both clinical and research operations. Key responsibilities include accessioning and tracking specimens, communicating with clinicians and laboratories, disseminating clinical reports, preparing and shipping kits, completing data entry, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The coordinator will also assist with patient screening, recruitment, and enrollment for genetics research studies.

This position provides the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in patient care and research within the field of OBGYN genetics.

Responsibilities



  • Accession and track clinical specimens, ensuring accuracy of orders and matching samples with requisitions.
  • Communicate with clinicians and external laboratories to resolve order issues, clarify turnaround times, and request additional specimens as needed.
  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory and manage kit preparation and shipping.
  • Ensure clinical results are reviewed, distributed to providers, and documented in Epic.
  • Support ongoing research protocols, including participant screening, consent, enrollment, scheduling, and data collection.
  • Process and ship biological specimens, and complete required study documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, GCP, and other regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with investigators, genetic counselors, and research staff to support clinical and research activities.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Basic math and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; Access preferred).
  • Training and proficiency in Epic electronic medical records required upon hire.


Preferred Qualifications



  • At least one year of experience in a medical facility or genetics-related field.
  • Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience in clinical genetics.
  • High proficiency or fluency in Spanish (ability to communicate without an interpreter).
